Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade is one of the largest and oldest in the country.  Itbegins on Chicago’s famed State Street at noon on the Saturday before Memorial Day (May 29th).  Representatives from all branches of the military participate, as do the usual array of parade marchers: high-school bands, prominent organizations and political figures.  A wreath-laying ceremony (at 11 a.m. in Daley Plaza) is the highlight of this at-times somber, at-times entertaining event.
