Challenge Accepted to “Jailbreak” the iPad 2

Challenge Accepted to “Jailbreak” the iPad 2
Infamous hacker, George Hotz, has accepted a challenge to be the first to “jailbreak” the iPad 2 from a fellow hacker, Joshua Hill. Hill posted the challenge to Hotz via twitter.Hotz had recently been sued for hacking the Sony Playstation 3 which has recently been settled out of court. One notable problem for Hotz in winning this challenge is that he does not have an iPad2. Hotz has remarked in his blog that Apple has gotten quite good at preventing hackers such as himself from “jailbreaking” their devices.

Expert: AI computers by 2020

Expert: AI computers by 2020
A U.S. computer expert predicts computers will have the same intellectual capacity as humans by 2020.

Ray Kurzweil was one of 18 people chosen by the American Association for the Advancement of Science to speak on future technological challenges, The Independent reported. He said that in the future artificial intelligence will advance far beyond human intelligence.

"Three-dimensional, molecular computing will provide the hardware for human-level 'strong artificial intelligence' by the 2020s," he said. "The more important software insights will be gained in part from the reverse engineering of the human brain, a process well under way. Already, two dozen regions of the human brain have been modeled and simulated."

Kurzweil's predictions are based on the assumption that the "law of accelerating returns" will continue in the development of artificial intelligence. Computer chip power has doubled every two years for the past half-century as a function of the accelerating return principa

Two of The Most Amazing New Inventions for 2011

By: kelly young

Final year, there have been a great deal of fantastic inventions made, and among these are: the NASA's Kepler Space Telescope, which permits you to look for habitable planets, a SixthSense wearable gestural interface, where at the touch of one's finger, it's going to bring the complete digital world to life, and there's the electrical eye that assists the blind to determine. And indeed, all these three are just incredible.

Now, let us take an appear at two of probably the most amazing new inventions for 2011.

1. Straddling Bus

The first on the list of the most amazing new inventions for 2011 will be the straddling bus. Bear in mind these moments exactly where you got stuck in a site visitors which you start to imagine how cool is it if you can just ask your car to fly, and then it suddenly lifts off the sky and fly, bringing you to your destination quickly. This is specifically the notion of China's new straddling bus. It's a bus designed by Youzhou Song of Shenzen that promises to be the new solution to China's pollution issues, including the highly congested roads.

It's an 18 ft tall and 25 ft wide public bus that could carry up to 1,200 passengers, becoming powered by both an electrical energy and solar energy. The solar power will probably be derived from the bus's panels and roofs, and it could travel to an common speed of 25 mph and is said to have the ability to reduce site visitors jams by up to 25 to 30 %.

2. Glasses-Free 3-D Television

The second new inventions for 2011 are the glass-free 3D Televisions that seems to have taken over the home entertainment business quick. It was Toshiba who launched such invention, and to date, the business has already launched each the 12-inch (~$1,400) and 20-inch (~$2,800) versions of this glass-free 3D TVs. The 3D TV makes use of the integral imaging approach that enables a natural 3D viewing. It functions by simultaneously showing numerous images from different angles and positions enabling both the viewer's left and proper eyes to determine various photos that had been designed from the 3D impact, with out the hassles of wearing those bulky glasses.

Google's Chromebook Specs Revealed: Up to $499 for a Cloud-Based Laptop | Popular Science

Google's Chromebook Specs Revealed: Up to $499 for a Cloud-Based Laptop | Popular Science

Among the many announcements at Google’s I/O developer conference were the final specs for the Chromebook, a new bare-bones notebook based on the Chrome OS platform. Your data is stored in the cloud, not on a hard drive, and all computing is done through the Chrome web browser and its apps, allowing instant-on capability and an “all-day battery,” according to Google. For this you will pay between $349 and $499.

The notebooks will be available June 15 on Samsung and Acer platforms, which will boot up in about 8 seconds and update automatically. Presumably there will be more hardware to come if the platform is a success.

The $499 Samsung model comes with a free 100 MB per month of 3G mobile data from Verizon — a fairly paltry number, but one that should allow users to accomplish minor tasks when they can’t access Wi-Fi. Beyond that, there'll be a pay-as-you-go 3G service. There’s also a $429 Wi-Fi-only model. Both Samsung notebooks feature a 12.1-inch display, Intel Atom processor (1.66GHz, according to PC World), a full-sized keyboard and an oversized clickable touchpad. The Acer model has an 11.6-inch display and weighs slightly less, at 2.95 pounds compared to Samsung’s 3.26. They both have the regular SD card slots, USB ports (for cameras and storage), speakers, and headphone jacks.

Those specs are pretty similar to your everyday netbook, but as Chrome OS was specifically designed for this sort of low-power computing, it'll run much smoother than, say, Windows 7, and do it with tablet-like battery life as well--the Samsung Chromebook is rated at 8.5 hours of battery life, and the Acer at 6.5. At least, that's the idea. Chrome OS is basically just a browser--all of your work is done through the browser and the web apps--sort of like beefed up, super functional websites--therein. Want to watch Netflix? Open a new tab with the Netflix web app. Want to email? Use the email web app. Want to browse through files or edit photos? There are apps for that, too.

Of course, this being a Google product, the idea of openness was stressed--anyone who wants will be able to flip a Chromebook into developer mode and mess around with it however they please. That's very different from Windows or Mac OS, or, for that matter, mobile OSes like iOS, which have to be "jailbroken." There's no jail to break in Chrome OS, just a friendly switch Google pretty much encourages users to hit.

Some HTML5-capable apps will run even when the laptop isn’t connected; Crunchgear points out that Google has been using offline versions of Gmail, calendar and docs. That's important, because without an internet connection, Chrome OS is otherwise essentially useless, just like a web browser without a connection is useless.

Chromebooks won’t have the capabilities of a Windows laptop or even a tablet, which are comparably priced, so at first glance it’s hard to see how they could possibly compete. But their cloud capabilities and modest ambition could be their biggest selling point. Rather than buying a more powerful desktop, laptop or even tablet, you can use the Chromebook as a portal to data stored elsewhere — which, as we saw again this week with Google's Music Beta, is becoming increasingly easy (if not necessarily secure). A Chromebook could be a simple way to access subscriptions to sites like Netflix or Hulu, manage your photos, and access cloud drives for music, without having to worry about pricey, more powerful processors or terabyte Seagate drives.

While Windows 7 computers in the same price range can technically run more strenuous and advanced apps, they can't really run them well, while Chrome OS is designed to be perfectly suited to its few simple tasks. Google's aim is to strip away all the stuff casual users typically don't even use, and then enjoy the performance bump from such a streamlined system.

In an acknowledgement of this potential, business users can rent them for $28 a month, either for software-as-a-service or hardware-as-a-service. The rental package will include the notebooks, a centralized control console for IT admins, and tech support, PC World says. Students will be able to rent them for $20 a month.

But tablets and laptops can be used this way, too. So for the same price as an iPad 2 and way pricier than Samung's own Galaxy tablet, we’re still waiting for the Chromebook’s wow factor. We were hoping it might be price--at $250, a Chromebook would definitely be preferable to an equivalent notebook or netbook. But at $500, we're wondering what the real attraction is.

ACN, Took My Money

I became and ACN Representative in Tampa, Florida., spent $500 on setting up an CAN franchise (was told this was all it would cost but found out that's not true), then I found out there's an annual fee too, then I ended up getting services I didn't want or need just to make it work, then I ended up spending money on their marketing material, then I had three Private Business Meetings (PBR's) in my home, then I found out that no one in my area wanted to do it despite my "going by the book exactly as they suggested", at the same time the people that got me in were saying misleading me over and over saying we're going to have this type of PBR at so and so's and this persuasive person will be there when that wasn't happening, they'll help me with some of my "warm leads" because they knew them too but they never did follow through as they said they would, they'll always be there to help me if I have questions but they couldn't answer my questions on the phone so they said they would meet with me when they were in town and they kept flaking out, then they said just go to the trainings in St.Pete, FL, which I did 3 times only to find that the information was always the same and never answered my questions or gave me a way to answer them. Man, so in the end I'm stuck with Direct TV and an IRS Video Phone. Which I never wanted because I use Netflix, and ACN phone that SUCKS because the thing doesn't consistently work and no one else I know has a video phone so here I am a year later and still haven't used this expensive and worthless phone realizing I could have been better off using Skype which by the way is way better and more versatile and in one month I've used with several people all over the world. So, in the end I wasted a LOT of time trying to convince my friends to waste their money and time so people which is a bit humiliating, and I wasted over a $1,000 on this, was mislead over and over by people I thought were respectable people, etc....

It's funny because these people act like they're helping people, but you can't help people if you're hurting people. This did hurt me only to help those that were higher up. This may work for some, but it doesn't work for all, but in my experienced opinion it's very pyramid like scammy and did more harm than good for me and other around me, a bit waste of time and money. These people aren't providing a real service or product to anyone, it's more about trying to exploit people you know, in my opinion.

I will be putting together some sites that will be very optimized in the direction of the market this company is in to illustrate what happened to me. I've not even got started in voicing my opinion on this;) Yours truly, ex ACN Representative in
Tampa, FL!

Car of the Future - "ENV" By GM

Over the years we’ve seen advancements in technology, especially in the automotive department. From rear-view cameras to parking assist and many more interior upgrades. The only thing missing was a satellite based vehicle that uses GPS to navigate and drive itself. A few months ago, we saw Google testing it’s new satellite driven car on the streets, but there will be more on that once it is in development. For now, let’s focus on what has actually been planned and conceptualized. GM has released a new concept car, the GM ENV.

The car is bubbled shaped, as seen in the picture to the left, and is known as an Electric Networked Vehicle which will have zero emissions and will rely on an electric motor for power. Nothing special right? We have the Tesla roadster as well as a few other companies developing electric cars, so what’s so special about the GM ENV? The ENVuses GPS technology allowing the car to be driven autonomously but also features a manual mode if you wish to maneuver the car on your own.
The vehicle was developed in partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) and was first seen on display at the SAIC-GM pavilion during the World Expo which took place in April, 2010. The ENV’s are only two seater, which is apparently GM’s notion to save space as they believe cities to be extremely crowded in the future to the drastic population increase.

The platform for the ENV’s was developed in partnership with Segway to give it its balance and light cargo hauling abilities. The car is also able to ‘turn on a dime’ according to GM. The Lithium batteries that power the ENV are good for 40 km round trips, which is enough for the majority of peoples daily commutes and can be charged from a regular household outlet.
“The future of how we move around in urban areas like Shanghai can combine the best of personal mobility and public transit. There is a better solution and it is called EN-V. It demonstrates that we have both the knowledge and the ability right now to create a way to move people that not only ensures a ‘better city’ but also offers people a ‘better life,’” says Taub, global vice president of GM research.
Will this economical, environmentally friendly and technologically advanced car actually attract investors and consumers? We’ll just have to wait and see the results when the car is in development, but we’ll keep you updated!

How to Make , Plasma Cutter with Real Lasers

This miniature plasma cutter comes with the collector’s edition of Dead Space 2, but rather than slicing off arms and legs with ease, it just has a few LEDs that light up. That wasn’t enough for Kipkay, who decided that it was time to crack the casing open and replace those boring lights with some actual, high-powered lasers. Using a 1W blue laser and a 600mW purple laser for the lights on the outer edge, the green LED in the center was replaced with a brighter, blue LED. Once it’s put back together, you can really see just how much of an improvement the mods make. The outer lights are now lasers which form visible laser beams much like the gun in the game. Granted, they still aren’t strong enough to sever the limbs from the walking dead, but Kipkay shows that they do produce enough energy to pop balloons and light matches.

Is Talk Fusion a SCAM? "Warning"

My opinion of Talk Fusion Scam - Get The REAL Deal Before You Join...

I CANNOT Believe People Are Falling For This...
Talk Fusion Scam? If you are thinking about joining Talk Fusion you had better pay close attention to my words first before you do something you might regret. I have some insider information about the company that you seriously NEED to know about before you decide to join Talk Fusion.
The Talk Fusion pitch is this "How would you like to communicate with people by video directly in their email inbox?"
When I first heard that, I was shocked. I was ready to learn exactly how I could put a video of myself in my lists email inbox. I wanted to see the video playing right there embedded within the email itself.
Now as a marketer that sounds like a pretty compelling business tool and it might be if it really did what it claims to do...
But when I did some more research, what I discovered was that Talk Fusion is doing nothing more than a simple HTML trick. This is something SO simple and SO widely known that I am honestly surprised that more people have not caught on to this yet.
Here's how Talk Fusion is fooling you...

The Talk Fusion Scam Revealed
Talk Fusion is actually doing some very sneaky here to get you to believe it's possible to embed a video within someones email inbox.
At the time of this writing, there is actually some high security risks associated with embedding video directly into email. However, as technology evolves you can expect to see video email as a standard. But not the way Talk Fusion does it.
What Talk Fusion is doing is really this. It seems like they are simply taking an snapshot of the video while it is paused so it has the play symbol and status bar within the photo. Then they simply just take that photo, disguised to look like a video and making a hyperlink, and then embedding that image into the email.
Then when the prospect views their email it appears as if when you click on the play button on the image it's actually going to play a video. But instead what happens is when they click the image, they are redirected to another website where the video is then played.
Do you see how deceptive that is?
Especially since you can do this EXACT same trick with ANY autoresponder service. With Youtube, you can use the same  trick all the time to increase me click through rates on my emails.
So instead of spending $175 bucks to get some lousy tools that you don't even do what they claim, instead go Youtube and create one for FREE.
Better yet, why don't you start building a REAL business asset, YOUR LIST!
You need to be building your own database of contacts so that you can continue to market to them for the rest of time and eventually grow that list to such a great size that you can literally create money ON DEMAND.

What Talk Fusion Will Never Tell You...
While Talk Fusion does try to provide you with some potentially useful business building tools like lead capture pages and "video email"(hah!) that are simply not even close to being up to par for running a really successful business online.
They are actually missing a lot of things you need, like the ability to create custom capture pages and sales pages, create full blown sales funnels, and even track your prospect from visitor, to lead, to customer.
This is the difference between a "wannabe" marketing system and something that true professionals use when building a home business online.

ACN Sucks. "Do Not Get Involved"

ACN Scam

Is ACN scam (fraudulent or deceptive business scheme)? Good question. On one hand, it is legally operating MLM company, selling phone services, Internet, videophone. It operates in many countries on 3 continents. On the other hand, there ale lots of controversies about ACN.

MLM

First controversy is that ACN is a MLM. Many people think that all MLMs are scams. It is not true, MLMs are legally operating businesses. BUT, some people in MLMs may act dishonest and with no morality at all - they will lie to you in your face, promise fast riches, suck you into some schemes for making money of you. This is why legal MLM systems have bad opinions.

ACN rep drop out rate

It is no secret that in MLMs drop out rate is very high. Some people joke that it has higher human resources rotation than MacDonalds.
Many ACN reps will enroll anyone into the business, without aptitude test (although they may say that they need to check you capabilities). Anyone willing to pay $499 is accepted and makes them profit :)
The drop out rate may be only estimated, it is believed to be more than 50% yearly, some people assume that it is 98%.

Typical income

What is the typical income of ACN rep? That is a tough question. Some reps just join and do almost nothing, so their income is zero (and they have big expenses). Some work hard, use gimmicks and recruit lot of new people and earn substantial income.
Why is it hard to estimate income? Income rules changes. The percentage of phone bills earned by reps changes. The number of customers you must have to earn bonuses from new reps changes.

Do the math!

The income has two sources: phone/internet bills and new reps.
First source is small. The market is very competitive (many different providers) and the percentage of revenue is small (less than 2% usually). How many customers must you have to earn $100 monthly, if you get 1% or 2% of their phone bills? Do the math. if you have 40 customers, with 30$ monthly bill each, that sums up to $1200 in bills. 2% of it would be $24. Monthly.
Some may say - but there is also income from downline, from levels below, up to the 7th level. Well, theoretically it is. In practice, sometimes it is not. It is no easy to build structure 7 levels deep andmaintain it, especially when drop out rate is high. This income is low but residual (if you keep the downline and not let it vanish due to drop out rate)
Second source is big. But it resembles pyramid scheme. This income is high but not residual.
There are also some Customer Acquisition Bonuses (CABs) - if you are on the level of "Executive Team Trainer or higher" - so you need to rise in the organisation first.
To sum up - high recruiting bonuses, small residuals income. The income thus depends on how many reps you recruit.
Expenses: about $499 (may change in time and be different in different countries) fee to join. Annual renewal fee (about $100-$150). Monthly fees - a few dollars. All is about $230 yearly ($499 more in first year). How many customers do you need to brek even?
Don't do ACN if you don't like it.
ACN - fbi & ftc
If you heard that FBI is after ACN - you probably heard bout Accenture Ltd. or Andersen Consulting. About FTC - it is possible, but I have no details yet. If you know something, leave a comment at the bottom of this page.

Complaints

There are many complaints about ACN. Not only are people complaining at forums, but also to institutions like Better Business Bureau, FTC, ACCC etc.

Legal battles

The Bureau of Consumer Services in Pennsylvania got complaints about "slamming" - switching to different provider without consent, and "cramming" (overcharging).
At 2004 Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) investigated the Australian Communications Network Pty Ltd (Australian ACN). Alleged breach of Trade Practices Act from 1974. At 2005 ACN Justice Selway judged that australian ACN attempted to induce people to take part in a pyramid selling scheme. But federal court appeal reversed decision and ruled that "recruitment payments" did not fall under the definitions of the law. ACCC appealed, The High Court of Australia refused the ACCC's appeal.
SAS ACN Communications France was said to be gulity of misleading advertising by the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris at 2007 and ordered to pay 15,000 euros.
ACN complained against Pacific Bell at 1997 for violating 202(a) and 252(i) of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C. 202(a) and 252(i).

Legal advisory committee

ACN has legal advisory committee, consisting of retired judges and attorneys, like Robert Stephan, former Kansas Attorney General, Chris Gorman former Kentucky Attorney General, Grant Woods (Arizona Att. General), Warren Pengilley - University of Newcastle professor emeritus, William P. McKeown, a retired judge from Canada Federal Court Trial Division and Supreme Court of Ontario.
Their task is to make the business more credible, and to assure the business is legal and ethical.

Pyramid scheme

Is ACN a pyramid scheme?

ACN is not pyramid scheme. But there are several resemblances. So anyone yelling "ACN scam pyramid scheme" shall take into consideration, that ACN is not a pyramid, although it resembles one.
What is pyramid scheme (snow ball scheme, chain scheme)? It is a scheme in which people pay fee to join, and then earn money from fees of those who have joined. Moreover, there is no selling of real products in the structure, sometimes no product at all, sometimes some 'fake' products (like 4 motivating books for $1000 etc).
Why ACN is not a pyramid? It sells real goods (phone services, video phone, Internet access).
Why ACN resembles pyramid? First, it is a MLM, all MLMs resemble pyramid somehow. But real MLMs are not pyramid schemes, they are legal businesses, so is ACN. Secondly, it resembles pyramid because the fee to join is quite high and the income from phone services is quite low (unless you have lots of customers.) The income of a rep from recruiting new reps may vary in time and in different countries, but in some times and places it is substantial in comparison to phone bills income. There is one important point - you need to sell services to get money from recruiting new reps. So it is unlike pyramid, when you just recruit new people.

Fraud

Is acn a fraud? Is ACN bad? Is it a swindle (swindle = cheating or defrauding). In my humble opinion, Do not waste your money. Due to reasosn explained above.

ACN is a Joke!!!
